Kasa, founded by Adrian Lo, is a newly opened Cantonese restaurant in Wanchai, infuses Hong Kong’s culinary past and present introducing a fun and uniquely modern twist on traditional Cantonese dishes and dai pai dong delights to create an unconventional dining experience.
The restaurant offers MSG-free breakfast, lunch and dinner menu, which includes scotch eggs, hotdogs and burgers. For breakfast, they even serve corn beef Hotdog with tomato salsa and scrambled eggs on a sesame bun, and Japanese char siu Burger with ginger mayonnaise and a sunny-side up egg in a pineapple bun.
Signature lunchtime favourites at Kasa include the Arancini made with crispy, Hong Kong style clay pot rice and Chinese preserved sausage. There is also the popular Scotch egg, which is wrapped in a layer of traditional steamed minced pork with preserved vegetable coated in breadcrumbs. Main courses boast Kasa favourites including the Shanghainese Braised Beef Short Ribs and the Grilled Salmon with ginger and scallion.
Kasa also offers a special main course menu of dinnertime delights that need to be ordered one day in advance. The dishes include The Salt Baked Tilapia, Baked Duck stuffed with sea urchin fried rice, and the Kasa-Style Roasted Suckling Pig (whole).
For dessert, a dish not to be missed is the Kasa-style Molten Duck Yolk Custard Lava Cake – a combination of the traditional Chinese custard bun with the internationally renowned lava cake.
The Kasa-style Churros with cinnamon sugar and condensed milk, and the Peanut Butter Ice Cream with condensed milk and cookie crumble are also on the must-try list.
Kasa has devised an extensive drinks menu with all-time favourite, Hong Kong beverages such as Soy Milk, Almond Milk, Cream Soda with fresh milk, Salted Lemon with Sprite, and Coca Cola with Chocolate Ice Cream. Kasa makes beverages using local, raw ingredients where possible for truly authentic flavours. The restaurant also sources and grinds their own coffee beans and stocks locally brewed beers.
To bring his vision to life, Adrian handpicked a bright young team led by Head Chef, Ciro Tam, to redefine and elevate Cantonese cuisine in Hong Kong. Ciro is a Chinese native with over 15 years of culinary experience and has previously worked in DiVino Group and Fresh Lodge.
Kasa seats 52 in a stylish and modern setting with a nostalgic Hong Kong feel. Key design elements give a nod to the Hong Kong of yesteryear including tables paired with rustic metal chairs akin to those found outside traditional dai pai dong food stalls. Areas of the walls are designed to mimic the panels of stalls in HK’s famous Stone Slab Street, and the restaurant’s doorframe resembles the traditional windowpanes of old tong lau buildings from the late 19th century.
