3.1 Phillip Lim Fall 2015 Campaign marks the continuation of “Romancing Reality”– 3.1 Phillip Lim’s nontraditional and innovative approach to advertising. The brand continues to challenge the definition of a fashion campaign by creating artful images that focus on the spirit of the brand rather than a literal interpretation.
In a subtle nod to the Fall 2015 collection theme, “Challenge the System,” Phillip and Viviane traveled to Bhutan; a country that challenges the definition of “happiness” by its spiritual approach to governance and way of life. The richness found, both in character and location, unfolded during the making of this unique campaign.
This season, 3.1 Phillip Lim collaborated with renowned art photographer, Viviane Sassen, to continue a series of images based around the brand’s vision of finding beauty in the everyday. The authenticity of the images were reinforced by shooting without a hair, make-up, or wardrobe stylist. Casting included local girls, from the region, without previous modelling experience. The rawness of the images were romanticized through Viviane’s lens alongside equally beautiful stories from behind the camera.
